Immanuel's Sunday School

Sunday School is a program of Christian Education for children aged 3 - 12. The Sunday School program begins in September on the Sunday after Labour Day and runs until the end of May, with a break at Christmas and Easter. Sunday School starts each Sunday morning at 9:15 A.M. There is a 15-minute opening with singing, an opening devotion, special time to honor childrens birthdays and the welcoming of new children. Then the children split off into grade-grouped classrooms for a 45-minute Bible lesson, activity and sometimes a craft. At 10:15 classes are dismissed, and there is a 15-minute break before the 10:30 worship service. Most of the Sunday School classes are team-taught - with two teachers alternating classroom responsibilities. There are some special events that occur during the Sunday School year. Approximately once a month, the Sunday School children participate in the worship service by singing a song. At Christmas time the children prepare and present a special program which tells the story of Jesus' birth. There are also social activities that the Sunday School Department initiates, including a sliegh ride, bowling, and a Sunday School picnic at the end of May. All children of the community are welcome to attend Sunday School. Call the Church at 632-6911 for more details about the Sunday School program, or to get the phone number of the Sunday School superintendant.
