LUTHERAN
BELIEFS
Lutherans are Christians who believe and trust in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the Savior who suffered, died and rose from the dead on the third day to save the world from sin. Lutherans teach that a person is saved only by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church is a member of Lutheran Church-Canada Synod.
Founded on its understanding of the Bible the Lutheran Church teaches that:
The Bible is the true Word of God.
That God is one God, in three persons; the Father (who created) the Son (who Redeemed) and the Holy Spirit (who sanctifies)
That man and woman were created by God in His image (Holy), but rebelled against God and sinned, and therefore can not come to God by our own powers.
That the church is all those people who sincerely believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
That Holy Baptism is a sacrament, which establishes new life in a person, gives forgiveness, life and salvation.
That Holy Communion is a sacrament, in which the Body and blood of Christ are in, with and under the elements of bread and wine.
That the three creeds, Apostles, Nicene and Athanasian Creeds are statements of belief, not additions to the Holy Scriptures. These creeds summarize the teachings of the Bible.
That Gods law demands perfect obedience in heart, thought, word and deed. Disobedience to Gods law is sin.
Sins are the failures of people to live their lives in trust toward God. They are evidenced in thought, word and deed.
The Gospel, the teachings of Jesus, offers grace to everyone and will save those who believe in its promises.
That prayer is a Christians sharing of thought with God ,communicating with God.
That death does not sever a believers relationship with Christ.
