Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much video will fit onto my DVD?
A: We will transfer no more that 2 hours of video from your tape to
a single DVD to ensure video quality.
Q: What kind of video formats can you transfer to DVD?
A: We are currently setup to accept video tapes in VHS, as well
as photos.
Q: What is a chapter point?
A: Think of a chapter point such as in a book. Your DVD will contain
chapter points at 5 or 10 minute intervals (or at scenes that you
specify if you select the Advanced package). These allow you to
instantly access scenes from the menu, and skip forward or backwards
from chapter to chapter. Very convenient!
Q: What is a Intro Screen?
A: The intro screen is the first screen you normally see on a DVD
movie. it will have the option to go to a menu screen or start the
movie.
Q: What is a Menu Screen?
A: The menu screen is a screen you can go to from the intro screen
or by hitting the menu button on your DVD player to select a specific
scene to start your movie.
Q: What is a Transition?
A: A transition is how the video transitions from one scene to another.
Q: How long will my DVD last?
A: If handled properly, a DVD can be expected to last for a lifetime!
Also, because playing it won't wear it out, your DVD will have the
same high quality in the future as it does today. Your memories
will be preserved for generations to come!
Q: Why do VHS tapes eventually lose quality?
A: In as little as a couple of years, the magnetic particles that
make up the picture and sound on your videotapes begin wear off
of the plastic tape. Some of the tape is rubbed off every time you
play it. Stray magnetic fields in your environment also cause signal
loss on the tape, even when it is not being played. In addition,
if you copy your tape, the copy will be of lesser quality. So copies
of a tape are even further degraded in quality from the original.
None of these things can happen with a DVD! Transferring your video
to a digital DVD eliminates the threat of losing any more of your
video's quality. In addition, your DVD can be copied without any
quality loss at all. By the way, since your original master tape
has the least quality loss, it is recommended that you send that
to us for transferring!
Q: How do I know if my new DVD will play in my DVD player?
A: The DVDs we produce will play in nearly every DVD player on the
market. However, there may be one or two less expensive players
on the market that may not comply fully with the DVD specifications.
These same DVD players will eventually have problems playing other
commercial DVDs as well. If your DVD player supports the DVD+R or
DVD-R disc formats, it will definitely be compatible.
Q: Will My DVD include a Label?
A: Yes. You can select from over 100 styles & Text for your
DVD label.
Q: What kind of case does my new DVD come in?
A: We use standard Jewel cases with custom cover inserts to hold
your new DVDs.
