Restoration Workshop

Workshop1.jpg (69777 bytes)   Car restoration is made much easier when you have a large workshop and you're not competing for your one or two car garage and suggesting to your wife that your Dart Swinger frame up restoration will only take a few weeks when you know damn well that its a two year project.  Cousin Mark happens to have acreage in town and decided to build a rather large workshop to quench his car hobbies.  This shop is 60ft X 36ft and with 16 foot interior walls, it even has a mezzanine!  This shop would make even Tim the Tool Man drool.  Mark has incorporated all the toys including radiant floor heat, a car hoist, arc welder, two tig welders, a gas welder, grinders, compressor, and what else; but an office complete with a fridge to stock required "refreshments" necessary when a rest break is required.  Out back is a similarly sized secure solid walled storage compound to house future project cars or whatever.

Hoist.jpg (86717 bytes)   These is a picture of the hoist and equipment setup in the shop.  While a hoist is a real treat and a luxury for car restoration, it certainly is a must for restoration since you can do all the underbody work using a car rotisserie.

Mark's Dart Swinger.jpg (95101 bytes)   Its more motivating and fun when two of you are restoring cars at the same time.  Coincidently, Mark is in the process of ripping apart his 1970 Dart Swinger 340.  Kind of handy especially if you are at different stages of restoration you can look at the other car right beside yours to figure out where the hell that part goes that you took off but can't remember how to put it back together.  Besides Mark's Dart Swinger, he also is the proud owner of a 1973 'Cuda with a 383 Magnum power plant.  The 'Cuda is in pristine condition but its going to get a new drivers side quarter panel to take care of some bubbling issues.
