Surprisingly, this whole project started with a title page for French class. My teacher instructed that we draw super heroes. (That's what the unit centered around. Don't ask me why.) We could even draw ones that already existed. And, well, since I had a habit of incorporating Sailor Moon into almost every school project I did (just like my Greek mythology project that just happened to include a lot of Selene and Endymion) , I drew one of the Outer Senshi, Sailor Saturn. I was jumping for joy the rest of the day. To see the title page that started it all, click here

About a week after, there came an even bigger project that also had to do with the title page. I just about fainted. The assignment was to draw a one page comic strip, featuring the character we drew on our title pages. I was literally bouncing in my chair with happiness. Because of that extra energy (or maybe just lack of oxygen), I went above and beyond the expectations. I drew six pages. And so are the origins for my Sailor Saturn doujinshi en français, "Firefly, Mon Amie". (Which translates to "Firefly, My Friend".) The whole project took me 9 days to complete. Full days of neglecting other work just to finish. I had to skip out on shopping trips with friends, miss my favorite television shows, and deprive myself from the internet for 3 days straight. The horror. If I can even recall correctly, I drank 15 glasses of orange juice just to keep me awake the final weekend before it was due. But at least I have something good to show for it. My medium was pencil, no computer. I had to do it all by hand, which were the specific instructions from my teacher. And yes, it is completely in French. (Except for 'Firefly' in the title. But that's an exception. I looked in 3 different dictionaries, none had it. Well, one did, but it just said that it would be translated to 'Firefly'. Riiiight...) But nevertheless, it's not in English. And just before I present the hand drawn, not published, doujinshi, I'll remind you of the disclaimer. But of course you all know that, so I'll say my personal disclaimer. I, MinaP Aino, drew this entire comic, so do not pass it off as your own work. That's stealing, and also extremely rude. If you want to feature it on your website, email me and ask nicely. I'll probably let you! Firefly, Mon Amie Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 | Page 5 | Page 6 For the script and translation, click

*Update: 12/2/03* The French translation for this comic has been corrected, by way of Alice, and is now intelligible! So all those people from France, enjoy the comic! And all those people from Quebec, try and get along. Finally, there are some there are some credits I'd like to pass around. First and foremost, I'd like to thank Stéphane Dumas (stephdumas@videotron.ca) for helping me with some translations, and Alice for doing the grammar. Next comes my family, for not asking questions when I didn't come out of my bedroom for hours at a time to do the project. And also for giving me nothing for support when I showed them the final project. My French teacher deserves some thanks, for editing the script (and for being my Art teacher as well). Last, but certainly not least, Lita-chan from the now off-line Pyua no Kokoro to be the first to embrace this comic and put it up on her page. Have any comments? Email me here
