  Purchasing Your Bird: It is always preferable to purchase your bird directly from a reputable breeder not only to ensure a healthy bird, but also to obtain better information and advice about your individual bird. Our birds are properly identified with AACC traceable bands. We provide a hatch certificate, which documents date of hatch and parentage. We also provide on-going support for as long as required.
   
  Written Health Guarantee: We guarantee that each baby parrot will be healthy upon delivery. Those truly interested in the good health of their bird will appreciate the fact that The Hen House is a non smoking facility.
   
  MAP Accredited Aviary (Model Aviculture Program): Based on veterinary aviary inspection, we follow comprehensive guidelines in all areas of our breeding operation to ensure the good health, safety and well being of our breeding flock and their offspring.
   
  Aviary Management: Our aviary is maintained strictly as a closed facility, thus avoiding the risk of disease walking in the door with the public. For the health protection of our parrot babies, no strangers are allowed to handle them, ever!

   Definition: We are bona fide breeders. Every baby parrot we have available is from our breeding program.
   
   Weaning: Our chicks are weaned abundantly onto a pellet-based diet supplemented with a large variety of other nutritious high quality foods.We sell only fully weaned babies, period! Please read the article Weaning - A Most Critical Period for important details.
   
 

 Socialization: Baby parrots need gentle handling and initial socialization by the breeder followed by proper training and on-going socialization by their new owners. Socialization is a life-long process that only begins with the breeder. Our work provides an excellent foundation for the baby parrots to develop into confident yet gentle pets, well suited to the human habitat.

You may see "spoiled rotten" babies being promoted or advertised elsewhere. In our opinion, that is the last thing that you will want as a permanent trait with any parrot. "Spoiled rotten" baby parrots more often than not will quickly develop major behaviour problems, which their owners are unable to cope with.

   
  Flying: We allow our chicks to earn their pilots license before going to their new homes. Flying produces a healthier baby bird with a stronger heart and wing muscles, more self confidence, coordination and grace.
