A favorite web site; just the facts.

There are so many stories that circulate via e-mail these days that it can be hard to tell what can be believed and what is just urban myth or an outright hoax. Enter Snopes.com, a web site in pursuit of factual information to these perplexing questions. Their emphasis is on debunking urban myths and exposing hoaxes whenever possible. It's always interesting reading, and generally done in a light humorous manner.

The topics are quite varied and you are sure to find yourself both amused and better informed. It is run by Barbara and David P. Mikkelson, a couple who seem to spend a great deal of time researching these questions, and coming up with detailed answers. They often add a bit of history to the answer, such as when they find a myth that began decades ago (or longer sometimes) and has been updated to fit today's circumstances It fun stuff to read, so take a few minutes (which can turn into hours quite easily) and check it out.
