| If you would like to submit a set of rules to The Foundry for possible publication,
please read: THE FOUNDRY MANIFESTO: WARGAME RULES |
The Foundry has a number of rules sets available for playtesting. They are being made available on the sole condition that you send feedback on them. (So please do it!)
Your opinion is actively sought, so get in touch! What we're looking for is what you like about the rules (assuming you find anything to like of course), and if you have reservations, what it is you are uncomfortable with.
The rules are available free via e-mail. At present they are available in IBM MS WORD
format only, or in .txt files for MAC users. (There are charts in many of the rules, which
will require reformatting.) I can .ZIP them if you require. Let me know which rules you
want, and your system requirements. (Also, please let me know where you live, so I have
some idea where these rules are going. Just curious) THE RULES WITH NO NAME
Western Gunfight Skirmish Rules Playtest Edition 17/12/96
A straightforward set of rules for triggernometry, bloodshed & mayhem in the Old West:
Also suited to the American Civil War & Various struggles south of the border down Mexico way.
These are intended primarily as a straightforward, simple set of Western gunfight rules, suitable for a quick, cheerful game, possibly involving a large number of participants. However, we wanted to include a degree of tactical skill, involvement with the rule system and an element of tension and surprise. Also check out 'Freikorps' for alternative rules!
There is now a 'RULES WITH NO NAME' Page, with rules variants, and scenarios, posted as I get them. If you'd like a look at the rules, I have them posted on-line HERE.
If you're running WP7 there's also a file to create the Fate & Skill decks using the Avery prepunched Business Cards template. Useless with other programs, I'm afraid.
If you have these rules in text format, the charts are posted HERE so you can format them
properly.
Horse & Musket Skirmish Rules Playtest Edition 6/10/96
A straightforward set of combat rules for skirmishing, adventuring and daring do in the age of Gentleman,
Gunpowder & Grenzer.
These are intended primarily as a straightforward, simple set of skirmish rules, covering the period from about 1700 to the mid nineteenth century (though we intend using them for the Seven Years War in Europe and Asia) suitable for a quick, cheerful game, possibly involving a large number of participants. However, we wanted to include a degree of tactical skill, involvement with the rule system and an element of tension and surprise.
If you have these in text format, the charts are posted HERE so you can format them properly. Check out the 'RULES WITH NO NAME' Page for alternative rules suggestions!
Card-driven big battle rules for the mid-18th Century. Has suggestions for campaigns and solo play. (About 350 pages overall.) Comes in 3 files, containing the rules, a playsheet, and a set of over 300 cards.
SEVEN YEARS WAR PAINTING GUIDES
So far containing Prussian Infantry, Prussian Cuirassiers, Russian Infantry, and Cossacks.
AMERICAN CIVIL WAR BATTLE RULES
Big battle rules for the War between the States. Innovative and original systems make for an interesting game. (Read the article in the March '97 WARGAMES ILLUSTRATED.)
GREAT WAR BATTLE RULES (1914-1918)
The least developed, it comes as a number of chapters you have to assemble into a set of rules. They are playable, they just came to me arranged in alphabetical order.
