The Rave
~ 25mm Buildings for Kill Zone, Combat Zone, or other urban combat games ~

The Rave is a gang party place, where warm summer nights are enjoyed with loud music, booze, dancing, and drugs. It is a variant on my earlier vacant lot, inspired by aluminium mesh found at a Michael's Craft Store, and by some accessories from Ainsty Castings. I wanted a better-looking lot, and a showcase for the accessories. In theory, the tires and wreck would provide some cover to the back of the lot, and channel intruders into a 'kill zone'.

The basic layout is an empty lot, with a fence made from 1/8 in. mesh supported by lengths of dowel, wired in place.

The centrepiece is the Ainsty (5961) wrecked car: I cut a hole for the resin base, and added scatter and rubbish to cover the join. Barely visible in the photos are loose hoses made from coiled wire, and tall weeds made from my own hair, painted green. Upon reflection, the car should have been pushed forward to restrict access better, and to open up the dance area. Oh well, I guess the gangers aren't tactical geniuses.

Flanking the gate are two Ainsty Tirewall pieces (with one loose tire in the rear corner) to help channel the 'guests' and keep unwanted guests from edging in.

At the rear are benches made from craft sticks, a turned wood 'keg' and a cable spool 'table' made from craftwood disks and dowel.

The smoking trash cans are lengths of dowel with cotton wool. (The dowels were hollowed with a Dremel for about 1/4 inch so the 'smoke' comes out rather than resting on top.)

Vegetation is painted hair or foam, ground scatter is sand, and litter is made from paper and fine dowel (for empty beer cans)

The figures in the pictures below are from Prince August's 'Future Shock' range. The building in the rear is 'The Poodle Shop.'
