The Pioneer Award Plaque
PIONEER AWARD PLAQUE:

It was my great pleasure, in December, 1998, to be awarded the 2nd Pioneer Award ever given by the Winnipeg Amateur Radio Club, Inc.  The first one was given to Bert Anderson, VE4AP  (see link at bottom of this page).

The picture shown immediately below is that of my receiving the plaque from Dick Maquire, VE4HK, a long-time member of WARC and a personal friend.

He spoke of my many accomplishments in Ham Radio over the 50 years since being licensed, and ended up with a story of a near-calamity at one of the earliest runnings of the Manitoba Marathon here in Winnipeg. For that story, click "Manitoba Marathon and the Bolt Cutters".
