Hi, Gerry here.
I've discontinued work on Gerry's ICQ. It was a pleasure making it, but there were problems that led to me stopping work on it. One was that I had no time to work on other projects that I was interested in. Gerry's ICQ was taking up a lot of my time. Also, ICQ, Inc. (AOL) didn't make their network protocol public, so making a client which could use their protocol required a lot of work to try to decypher what the protocol did by examining the network traffic. Also, they liked to make changes on a fairly regular basis which would sometimes break any ICQ clone.

Anyways. I'm glad to see that I am no longer the only person to make an ICQ clone for the Mac. There are several good looking ones available now. Unfortunately, most (all?) require MacOS X.

I do appreciate all the positive feedback I've received.

If anyone would like a copy of my latest version, or would like the source code, please Let me know.

It has been a popular request to be able to read old Gerry's ICQ history files, so I whipped up a simple reader for the history files. You will need to input your user's UIN and the UIN for the contact's history you want to read. It will allow you to view the history in a window and to save it to a text file.
