The Choir of First Lutheran Church

Video Excerpt of Choir at Pastor Isfeld's retirement banquet

The above photo and video feature the choir giving an informal performance at Pastor Isfeld's retirement banquet.

The choir has been a long-standing tradition at First Lutheran Church, assisting and enhancing our worship service with inspirational music throughout the year. The choir, which consists of both women and men, divided into sopranos, altos, tenors and bass. Several of the members also serve as soloists on occasion. Although their numbers are small, their strong voices and dedicated spirits allow them to make a "Joyful Noise" indeed.

Along with the regular worship service, the choir participates in several special events throughout the year. In 1999, they joined with two other choirs for a special Advent Service at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

Members of the Choir in the Choir Loft prepare for the Christmas Eve Service, 2000.

Each piece of music is practiced for several weeks in advance so that all members are prepared to lead the congregation in singing even the more difficult hymns. Practice is usually accompanied by coffee and treats, and special celebrations for the members are held at Christmas and in May.

New members are always welcome for part or all of the regular season, and additional groups or soloists are encouraged to give performances over the summer. You may join the choir by simply attending practice, or you may contact the Church Office.
