Eastside Eagles Football Club

Club History

The East Side Eagles Football Club was founded by the Al and Ross Kinley, Joe Sandrik, Ted Nowicki and Les Kinoshita, in 1972, out of Chalmers Community Club. It started with one Bantam team, and have evolved to presently fielding at least six teams, ages 7 to 30 years old.

The Eagles eventually outgrew the space at Chalmers and moved to Anderson Park in 1988. A 2200 square foot addition to the facility was completed in 1989 and the club operated there until 1994. At that time, the continuing need for additional facility and field space meant moving from the Anderson Park location to the present location of 723 London St. The 4536 square foot Clubhouse was built, the existing grass field upgraded and game lights, bleachers and press box installed

With the Pan American Games coming to Winnipeg the opportunity arose to apply for an Infrastructure grant through the Provincial and Federal Governments. The proposal for an artificial turf field to be used for the Pan Am Games Field Hockey was accepted. This upgrading project started in 1998 and was completed in 1999. Along with the turf, additional bleachers and fencing were added. The East Side Eagles Football Club facility is the newest, most advanced and only lighted amateur, artificial turf football field in the Province.
