We hunt Whitetail in the Duck Mountains when they are in rut in mid-November. We have only 6 permits for the Duck Mountain area which is approximately 150 miles south of The Pas. Our camp is set up on our own private land. Our land is adjacent to the Provincial Forest. Our cabin is surrounded by alfalfa fields located along the edge of the Duck Mountains. The deer come down the mountain to feed on the alfalfa fields. In the morning the cabin is surrounded by deer, a hunters paradise. We use tree stands or ground blinds, whichever you prefer. Our deer population is high and the big ones are out there. The big ones are also the smart ones, that’s why they are big. We encourage grunting or rattling to increase your chance for a trophy buck. The deer feed on our land all year round. I was raised just 1 mile from where the cabin is located and have hunted here for approximately 22 years. I know the area and the deer patterns very well.
In The Pas we hunt Whitetail at the end of September in their natural feeding grounds. We have only 2 permits for The Pas area. In The Pas we can do deer-bear combination hunts because the bear season is still open.
