East Mains near Coulter - Then and Now

In January 2007, Dan & Judy Shiels travelled to Scotland to complete some Family History research. We were able to visit the old Shiels the Bootmaker shop in Biggar and see some of the old tools at the Biggar Museum. We were also able to visit Coulter cemetary to see the family graves. The best part of the area tour was to stand on the grounds of East Mains, where we all started from so many years ago. Our stay in the area was also very nice, thanks to Margaret Kirby and her husband Norman. They operate the Walston Mansion Farmhouse, a Bed & Breakfast about 6 miles from Biggar. They were fantastic, especially when we showed up without our luggage! We HIGHLY recomend this spot for great food and wonderful hospitality!
