Zambian Wire Toys

One of the interesting sights of Zambia were the toy trucks and cars that the boys played with. Most of the vehicles were quite identifiable as, eg Fiat Trucks, Mercedes, Peugeot cars, etc.

The long wire out of sight here ended as a steering wheel which in most cases turned the front axle. In fact, the Moto Moto Museum in Mbala had a wonderful collection of these wire vehicles. It included a toy tractor with a front end loader bucket that also lifted & dumped! (Also at this museum was an amazing collection of small clay models showing the myriad of hair styles that the girls did their hair in.)
