MILNE HOMES

Doug and Janet Milne build every home as if it were their
own. In fact, it was by building their own residence 10 years
ago that the Milnes first developed a passion for homebuilding.
In the beginning, there were one or two projects a year. But
as word began to spread about the unique design and uncompromising
quality of each house, Doug found himself having to devote
his time entirely to Milne Homes.
A true custom builder, Doug Milne will work with customers
from start to finish, integrating their ideas into the finished
product. Weve had clients come to us with a sketch
on a cocktail napkin, recalls Doug.
By working with customers right from the beginning,
we can make sure that we fully understand their needs and
always keep their best interests in mind, he adds.
With Milne Homes, client and builder develop a relationship
that often carries on long after the construction process
if over.
Its almost like a marriage, laughs Janet.
Well be making decisions together that will affect
their happiness for many years to come. Were in communication
every day for five months or more. Through the process weve
made friends that we still maintain relationships with today.
Doug prides himself in being available to his customers
at any time. Aside from preplanned walkthroughs to verify
specific needs, he encourages the owners to visit the house
as often as they can.
They have a key to the home at all times, he
explains. Theyre free to call me and meet at the
home when its convenient for them. If there are changes
they want to make, we address them right away.
The builder also encourages his tradespeople to share their
knowledge and discuss their work with clients. Many of these
artisans have been with the company since the beginning, providing
the superior workmanship and fine detailing for which Milne
is known.
To the Milnes, it is essential that the tradespeople share
in their work ethic. Doug is a perfectionist,
notes Janet. If it isnt done right the first time,
it will have to be done again. Continued...
