Oma's Quilt Shop is a gem of a business that is located in the woods, sharing space with Scrapbook Attic. It is just north of Grunthal. Quilts bedeck the walls and open banister, giving the shop a cozy, country feel. Adiena Boschman built the shop in 2004, after closing the doors to her 22 year Fabricland francise in Steinbach. While the store was very busy and doing well, she felt she wanted to do something on a smaller scale. Service has always been important to her, and Adiena feels that she can have a better handle on that in her smaller, more specialized shop. She has noticed that sewing trends have changed over the years. "People are not sewing as many garments anymore. Now they are doing more crafts and quilting." When you walk into this quaint shop, you get a feeling it is much more than just another fabric store. Adiena claims she doesn't need a cabin at the lake because she now has her own 'cottage' in her front yard. The shop is also part of a mission for her. She loves meeting people and she strives to encourage people. While quilting is a relatively new passion for her, Adiena approaches it with the same enthusiasm as everything else in her life. |
