Daly House Museum

Stephen A. Magnacca

The Magnacca Research Center, located within the Daly House Museum, is named after the late Stephen A. Magnacca, Mayor of Brandon from 1961-1969.   During his term in office, Mayor Magnacca did much to promote the heritage of the city.   In 1976, he was the driving force behind the establishment of the Daly House Museum.   The research center named in his honor preserves, protects and promotes Brandon's history.

This site is offered by the Daly House Museum/Magnacca Research Center as a guide to our archival holdings and collections. It will help you determine what type of assistance and resources we can offer. When you undertake historical research you could be looking for information about any number of things - your family tree, your house or business, a pocket watch, or an old book. Whatever you are looking for, it is always necessary to start with some vital information. Therefore, when you go into a resource like the Daly House Museum/Magnacca Research Center please have a few things in mind to help us out so that we can give the appropriate directions. Depending on your search, we will probably ask you...

  • What are you looking for?
  • Why are you looking?
  • What do you already know?
  • Where have you already looked?
  • Have you come upon a dead-end? Why? Where?
  • What has led you to us?
  • How much time and effort doe you wish to expend?
With these questions answered, we will be better able to assist you with your research
