About the Author
a series by Doris Benson
Doris Benson, a polio survivor, possesses strong family links to Hecla Island and its now dispersed Icelandic community.  As the wife of a former Lake Winnipeg fisherman, she understands the fickle nature of the lake and the strengths of the hardy Icelanders who first made Hecla their home about the time that Manitoba became a province.  Doris makes her home in the Interlake a short drive from Hecla Island.  Her two children and four grandchildren are extremely proud of her accomplishment in completing her Hecla trilogy and are very interested to see what she will do next!
