Discover the Birds of Churchill

With more than 200 bird species passing through each season, Churchill is one of the great destinations for the birding enthusiast. These tours are offered daily throughout the spring and summer. Areas visited will vary depending upon the current location of species sought by those on tour.

Some of the unique species which may be seen include: Ross's Gull, Smith's Longspur, Parasitic Jaeger, Hoary Redpoll, Willow Ptarmigan and Pacific Loon.

The exclusive five-day birding tour packages are offered throughout May and June. At this time, you can expect to see approximately 100 species. Many are passing through the sub-arctic on their way to their arctic nesting grounds.

Birding tours are conducted by Bonnie Chartier, local author of the American Birding Association/Lane "A Birder's Guide to Churchill".

Located at the edge of the historic Hudson Bay,
Churchill is situated at an intersection of four
environments. As the arctic tundra meets the
taiga, boreal forest and Canada's largest inland
sea (Hudson Bay), you will experience a unique
variety of the northern flora and fauna in season.
We hope that we can help you make your visit to
Churchill successful and enjoyable and a once in
a lifetime experience.
