Black-bellied Plover (Pluvalis squatarola) - Uncommon migrant.

American Golden Plover (Pluvalis dominica) - Common summer resident of dry tundra and rocky ridge.

Lesser Yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) - Most noticed shorebird in Churchill. Can be seen perched on treetops everywhere.

Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) - Fairly common summer resident of the wet tundra.

Hudsonian Godwit (Limosa haemastica) - Common summer resident of the wet tundra. Found along the edge of the roads.

Semipalmated Sandpiper (Calidris pusilla) - Uncommon summer resident of the fairly dry tundra, often quite near the coast.

Least Sandpiper (Calidris minutilla) - Common summer resident in wet meadow at the treeline, avoiding the semi-dry tundra near the coast where the previous species is found.

White-rumped Sandpiper (Calidris fuscicollis) - Uncommon migrant. Most often found along the Churchill River or coastal mudflats.

Baird's Sandpiper (Calidris bairdii) - Uncommon migrant. Most often found along the Churchill River or coastal mudflats.

Stilt Sandpiper (Caildris himantopus) - Fairly common summer resident of the wet tundra.

Red-necked Phalarope (Phalaropus lobatus) - Uncommon and local summer resident of many lakes and ponds.

Red Phalarope (Phalaropus fulicaria) - This colourful migrant is usually uncommon but sometimes occurs in numbers in early June.

Jaegers - Parasitic Jaegers is an uncommon summer resident of the tundra. Long-tailed Jaeger is a June migrant that usually occurs near the mouth of the river. Pomarine is very rare.

Gulls - Little Gull is a rare summer resident with immature sightings on record. Mew Gull is a very rare June migrant but has attempted to nest near the dump. Thayer's and Glaucous Gull are uncommon summer visitors, with Iceland and Sabine's Gulls uncommonly migrants passing through in early June.

Ross's Gull (Rhodostethia rosea) - Rare summer resident. Has nested near Akudlik marsh and near Landing Lake. Ross's Gull oftern associates with other northern gulls and Arctic Terns. Check feeding flocks of gulls and terns carefully.

Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisea) - Abundant summer resident. Miss this one and you should turn in your binoculars.
