What is Tibetan Buddhism?
About Venerable Dakshong Tulku
Canadian Tibetan Buddhist Society
|
Venerable Dakshong
Tulku is an incarnate lama of the Nyingma School of Tibetan
Buddhism.
Born in Western Tibet, he fled to India in 1959
due to the violent invasion by China. As a refugee himself, Venerable
Dakshong Tulku spent twelve years in India helping other
homeless Tibetans, with the GAPA Society of KAMRAO, and studying
and teaching at the Sanskrit University of Benares. It was in
India that he met and married Pegee and started a family. Immigration
to Canada became possible in 1972, and the family settled in
Winnipeg. He adapted to this new culture with characteristic
tolerance and patience, working for several years as a skilled
trades-person.
Then, in 1984, he met several persistent, aspiring
students of the Dharma who later persuaded him to become the spiritual
director of the Canadian Tibetan Buddhist Society. |
