Connery's
Frequently Asked Questions: |
|
| |
When is the season?
Strawberry season usually begins late June or early July. It
is approximately two to three weeks long. During the season,
we attempt to be open seven days a week, including holidays,
rain or shine.
|
|
| |
Why could Connery’s be closed during
the season?
Generally the only reasons for us to close are the weather
(but only if it’s thundering and lightning in the field) or
if we’re picked out (though that can last for any time
period- from a couple hours to a day). This is why we
suggest that customers call before they make the journey.
|
|
| |
What are the normal hours?
On a normal day we open at 7:00a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.
We start taking pickers out to the field at precisely 7:00
a.m. and stop at 8:30 p.m.

|
| |
What are the prices?
A list of products and prices is on the Product/Price List
page.
|
|
| |
How do I get there?
Directions to our farm are on the Directions / Contact Us
page.
|
|
| |
How can I pay?
We accept cash or cheque. Sorry, we can not take credit or
debit cards due to a lack of power.

|
| |
Are children allowed?
Children are always welcomed at Connery’s Strawberry Farm,
although we do ask you to supervise them closely.
|
|
| |
Are pets allowed?
Many people bring their pets to accompany them on their
journey to our farm. However, it is a strict policy
|
|
| |
Do we need to bring pails?
We do have 4L baskets that are free of charge if needed, but
you are always welcome to bring your own pails. However, it
is a strict policy in order to make our lives easier that
only 4L ice cream pails are allowed.
Our pre-picked berries are already in baskets when you pick
them up.
|
|
| |
Do we need to order pre-picks in
advance?
We always pick over and beyond our orders for the day so if
you aren’t making a long trip and just want a couple baskets
we encourage you to stop in and check if we have any
available for you on your way home or to the lake. However,
we can not guarantee that we will have pre-picks available.
We recommend that you pre-order so that we can guarantee
your berries. Pre-orders must be confirmed by phone.
|
|
| |
What do you grow?
Connery’s Berry Farm grows strawberries and saskatoons for
U-picking and Pre-picks. The fields surrounding the
strawberries are grown by Connery’s Riverdale Farms.
Connery’s Riverdale Farms grows a variety of vegetables, but
they are all sold through Peak of the Market and not
available for purchase through the berry farm.
|
|
| |
Do you use chemicals on your berries?
We are not an organic farm but we only use the bare minimum
of pesticides necessary to provide great berries for our
customers. Not to worry, the berries are perfectly safe
straight from the field, our family, friends, employees and
customers have been enjoying them this way for well over 10
years.
|
|
| |
Do you deliver?
No, we do not deliver, however many fruit stands purchase
our pre-picked berries for resale. For a list of these
stands and where they are located, please see our How to
Find Us page.
|
|
| |
Are there any discounts?
Only on u-picks. For every 11 baskets you pick you only pay
for 10.
|
|
| |
Do the fields get muddy?
We do have lots of straw in the rows to help keep them dry
and clean after rains or when we irrigate. However, we are
located in a field, and it can on occasion get rather mucky
after a large downpour.
|
|
| |
Do you sell frozen berries?
Unfortunately we only sell fresh berries, however we have
many recipes and guides to help you freeze your berries
yourself, the old fashioned way, and some are even available
on this site
