Dates
Gan-Israel winter camp meets for two weeks during the
school winter break. The first week begins Monday December 22nd and
concludes on Friday December 26th. The second week begins Monday December
29th and concludes on Friday January 2nd. Each week offers different and
unique features so that every day at camp is new and exciting.
We accommodate campers that wish to attend for only one
of the two weeks. However, we encourage campers to attend both weeks, to
enjoy the different features of each and to gain from the full flavour of
the camping experience.
Location
Our central campsite is in the Lubavitch Centre of the
North-End, at 2095 Sinclair Street. We provide a free bus service for
South-End campers. See details below.
Times
The camp day begins at 9:45 a.m. at our “Campsite,”
and it finishes at 3:30 p.m.. On Fridays camp ends at 2:00 p.m. to allow
sufficient time to prepare for Shabbos. Staff will supervise campers at
our central campsite, beginning at 9:30 a.m..
South End Bus
Schedule
South-End campers should be at our SE
Bus Depot—Chabad-Torah Centre 1825 Grant Avenue, near
Centennial, by 9:10 a.m. They will be transported from there to
the days activities by bus and will return to the same location
by approximately 4:10 pm (on Friday by approximately 2:40 pm).
Camp staff supervises the campers on
the bus. The staff will also supervise campers at the pick-up
depot, from 9:00 a.m. and up to 4:30 p.m. (3:00 pm on Fridays).
Groups
Gan Israel provides programming for
children ages 4 through 13. Campers are placed in groups with
campers of their own age and grade level.
Each group consists, on the average, of
eight to ten children and is supervised by two counsellors.
Activities are geared to the age level
and interests of each group, so that campers of all ages enjoy
their activities and find each day at Camp Gan-Israel to be
stimulating, pleasant and engaging.
Fees
The cost of the full-camp (both weeks)
is only $125.00.
The cost of a single week is $75.00.
The camp fees must be received before the beginning of
camp. Cheques should be made payable to “Lubavitch Centre.”
You can also pay by credit card.
Scholarships
It is important to us that every Jewish child
is able to enjoy the fun and excitement of Gan Israel. If you
find it difficult to pay the full camp fee because of financial
difficulties, contact us to arrange a fee schedule that will
meet your needs.
We will also do our best to assist you in
arranging car-pools to and from camp or child-care
before and after the camp day.
Sponsorships
Please contact us if you
are able to sponsor a needy child.
