Shane Hnidy

Shane was born and raised in Neepawa. His parents Ed and Diana still call Neepawa home. He played minor hockey in Neepawa before moving to the WHL and then the NHL. He is now a defence man with the Boston Bruins.

This will be the ninth year Shane has lent his support to the community through the Shane Hnidy Charity Golf Tournament. This year it will be held July 9, 2009 at the Neepawa Golf Club. It will be a Texas scramble with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. The event is limited to 38, four person teams with a celebrity assigned to each team. The event includes 18 holes of golf, cart rental, golf shirt and banquet dinner. After dinner there will be a live auction of autographed jerseys and other interesting items. The tournament continues to be our biggest fund raiser, netting the foundation over $130,000 so far.

Shane often joins the fun and brings one or two other players as well.
