 | The 1st Kirkfield Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have expanded their recycling program to include not only drink cans, but plastic and paper as well. The money collected from the program will be used to offset the cost of Family Camp which is held in June. Please see the attached list below for eligible products. The more families that participate, the cheaper the cost of camp. |
 | This program is being used in conjunction with the Recycling Badges that each Cub and Scout can earn. Scouting is about protecting and preserving our environment. Your assistance in helping our groups achieve this goal is greatly appreciated. |
 | Last year, our aluminium can recycling program raised over $800, and with some help of food donations from area businesses, everyone enjoyed a weekend camp free of charge. We are hoping with the addition of plastic and paper recycling that we can surpass last year's balance. |
 | Collect each type of product in separate CLEAR plastic leaf bags or CLEAR garbage bags. If you require clear plastic bags, contact
Doug Darr @ 889-5661. |
 | Please remove the lids from any of the bottles as they are not part of the program. Plastics include any products with the recycling symbol of 1 or 2, and lids for margarine or ice cream containers. |
 | Check your plastics, it is amazing how much we can recycle. |
 | Rather than drop your recycling at the curb, or into the garbage, use this as a fundraiser without going door to door. |
 | Ensure all of the pop cans are crushed. Leave all beer cans intact and drop off to
Doug Darr. We receive more funds for them as returns to the beer store. |
 | All recycling can be dropped off at Metro Recycling at 100 Omands Creek. (Click for map) When dropping off recycling, indicate that it is for 1st Kirkfield Scouting Group so our account is properly credited. |
