The 1st Kirkfield Scouting Group took part in Riverbank Cleanup - part of the Shoreline Cleanup event organized by the Vancouver Aquarium.  On Saturday, September 17, 2011, 30 participants (members, leaders, parents, and siblings) took part in the cleanup of the banks of the Sturgeon Creek from Portage Avenue south to the Assiniboine River.  This event provided our members with a positive example of their community working together to help the local environment.  It helped to show our youth how they could have a positive impact on their environment.  Thank you to Sharon Blady for her support!  Also, thank you to all those who participated - we couldn't have done it without you!!

=========================================================================

On Saturday, October 11th, a group of Scouters including approximately 30 of our members and their families came out to Brookside Cemetery to help place 1000's of flags.  Many hands made for light work, and in less than two hours we had completed our task.  These flags were placed in preparation for a ceremony to be held on Saturday, Oct 18th to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the World War I Armistice and the re-dedication of the teardrop section.

"On Saturday, June 28, 2008, the 1st Kirkfield Scouts participated in a fundraising BBQ sponsored by Jim Rondeau, MLA of Assiniboia. Members from Venturers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers along with some of their family members and leaders came out to lend a hand catching the attention of passersby, cooking hot dogs, and serving customers. Thanks to everyone who came out to make this a successful event!
