Green Space                                    

Although children have opportunities to play outside, we feel that some children may not be given enough opportunities to connect with nature.  As Early Childhood Educator’s we want to give children these opportunities and help them get back to the basics.  Back to the days when a little dirt, a huge puddle and a pair of rubber boots went along way.  Back to the days when you didn’t need a PSP or Nintendo to keep you occupied.  All you needed was a group of friends and the freedom to explore. 
 
Beaumont Day Care Inc. offers a versatile program of learning experiences suitable for the child's development level. On a daily basis we provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage all children to interact with each other.  The children’s developmental levels and continued growth help us to develop our environment, learning  experiences and daily routines.  Our program also provides opportunities on a daily basis for children to explore the outdoors. These opportunities will only be enhanced with a natural play space & allow ample time for the children to explore & develop their  skills and connect with nature.  We feel that this natural play space is an essential part of our commitment to developing the whole child & will provide the following opportunities:
                                                                                                                                                           
                                                                                                                       

• Be aesthetically pleasing. (It is presently a dead grass area)              
• Develop curiosity and exploration
• Bring nature back to the for front
• Give children a sense of pride and ownership. (Building and caring for their own garden)
• Develop social skills and foster emotional development
• Connection to the environment with structured learning opportunities including:

• Planting/Gardening
• Large & fine motor development (running/exploring/riding toys)
• Butterfly houses & insect life
• Bird feeders & animal life
• Math & Science exploration (through loose parts & natural resources)
• Art Creations
