Fruit-Spiced Chicken

1 cup orange juice

1 clove garlic, minced

¾ cup canned sliced peaches

½ cup flour

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons vinegar

dash pepper

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 3-pound chicken (cut up)

1 teaspoon basil

cooking oil

Combine first 7 ingredients in saucepan; cook slowly 10 minutes. Mix flour, salt, pepper; dredge chicken in mixture. Heat cooking oil in frying pan to depth of 1 inch; brown chicken; remove chicken; pour off all but 2 tablespoons dripping; replace chicken; pour fruit sauce over top. Cover, simmer 20 minutes.
