Curried Chicken and Potatoes

2 lbs. cut-up chicken

black pepper

4 medium sized potatoes, diced

ground cloves

2 cloves crushed garlic

cinnamon

2 tsp. white vinegar

paprika

2 tbsp. curry powder

salt

2 tsp. thyme

Prepare chicken by washing thoroughly and placing in a bowl. Pour vinegar on chicken, add salt to taste; also add thyme and crushed garlic. Sprinkle black pepper, ground clove, cinnamon and paprika. Let stand for 2 hours, turning once in a while. In a large skillet heat 2 or 3 tablespoons of your favorite cooking oil, brown chicken slightly on both sides, sprinkle curry powder on chicken and stir briskly, adding a little water or residue from bowl. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Add diced potatoes and continue cooking until potatoes are done. Serve with hot rice.
