Presidents Message
[Message 2007 - 2008 by Adrienne Luke]
Congratulations to all the patrons who have stopped by and taken part in one or more of the activities at the Watson Art Centre (WAC) in the last year. By doing so you are taking ownership in a part of the city of Dauphin's history. The WAC is your building and we at the Dauphin and District Arts Council (DDAAC) continue to work toward providing a face for the arts in this community.
A year has gone by and a great deal of activity has taken place at the WAC. As a non-profit organization, the DDAAC, along with various committees and groups, have worked on many activities at the WAC. We were successful in the past year providing and maintaining a wide array of programs for all ages. Once again, we face a broad, exciting horizon, looking to the future and embarking on another exciting year.
We have had some changes at the WAC. I would like to introduce Susan Kowalski, our new Administrator. Please stop in and meet Susan or send her an email introducing yourself. Please stop in and meet Susan or send her an e-mail introducing yourself.
Change is part of a growing and staying vital for us at the WAC. Our website is a work in progress, providing information along with our e-mail news packed with current reminders of upcoming events. Our affiliate and associate groups continue to promote their up-coming events on this site, as well. we have recently joined Facebook to continue to get our message out.
Fundraising is ongoing. With a historic building, there is always a place to spend dollars on upkeep, as well as provide best quality entertainment and activities to the public. As we near the completion of the boiler project we move on to meeting the challenge of providing a comfortable climate for our patrons in the hot summer months. I assure you, installing air conditioning in the WAC is one of the goals we have set for ourselves.
We have an exciting year ahead of ourselves with new concert series, another New Years Boiler Bash, our annual craft show and countless other events. Check us our and see what's happening in your Watson Art Centre.
