The term "Linden Scarecrow" was initially coined in the late April of 2008.

After a particularly tumultuous season, a young curling rink (lead by a local Lindenite, who will remain unnamed for now) held one last evening 'hoorah' at the 3rd's house to ponder the past season. It was an evening full of laughter and merriment surrounded by great food and even better entertainment.

As the evening lingered on, the boys became restless and decided to roam the grounds and enjoy the early spring weather. It wasn't long before the group came upon the resident's old Christmas tree which, now, was little more than a 4 ft stick with sharp prongs jutting from it's trunk; worn down to this state by the family dog. It wasn't long before the trusty chew toy had a new use.

Who's idea it was to prop up the lowly branch in the nearby field, adorned with old CD's, a guitar pick, flammable aerosol cans and a pained target. and use it for '22' target practice still remains up for debate. But it was likely the same person that mentioned it's resemblance to a person standing in the field to keep away the pests proclaiming it the "Linden Scarecrow".

And so we stole the name and tacked it to this group of elite mountain bikers, most of whom don't spend much time in the mountains or necessarily own a bike. But that's just the way we do things in Linden.
