Membership Benefits If you are a retired or current employee of Winnipeg Transit, Brandon Transit, Beaver Bus Lines, Greyhound/Grey Goose or other Manitoba-based bus company and have an interest in restoration of vintage vehicles, collecting and cataloguing historical items, or meeting with the public—then the MTHA may have something to offer. The Manitoba Transit Heritage Association is always looking for interested and enthusiastic new volunteer members. You can choose to be an active volunteer, or simply enjoy the benefit of receiving the MTHA newsletter and attending annual member appreciation events and functions. Joining the MTHA offers an opportunity to meet new people who share an interest in transit heritage. Bus companies and industry suppliers are also welcome to become corporate members and share transit heritage preservation with their employees.
Activities Manitoba Transit Heritage Association members have successfully restored three buses back to operational condition through hard work, donations and grants. Current and new members continue to work on restoring a number of vintage vehicles, volunteering at public displays, participating in parades and collecting a number of historical industry-related items. This memorabilia includes transfers, tickets, maps, and books. The Association also maintains a collection of photographs of vintage transit vehicles and other buses The MTHA continues to work toward the goal of establishing a museum to display vintage vehicles and archive transit memorabilia through fundraising for its building endowment fund. Finally, the MTHA also participates in heritage tours, and will pursue publishing a book about the history of transit buses in Winnipeg very soon.
