New painting is coming along!

After much planning and deliberation on my Hebrews 11 series, I've finallybegun to put paint down on the first one-- Abel. Here are a some photos of the work in progress, Day 1 and Day 2.

I'm in love with niches lately. I want to see them everywhere. This particular niche is in a more classical styling... or call it Renaissance-like, or Neoclassic... as opposed to Gothic, which, in the planning stages, I was also considering. I would have needed a much taller and skinnier canvas to do a good Gothic niche, though. But just to throw a bit of Gothic into the whole thing, I decided to put in a couple little accents into the corners. That's what those black outlines will be framing.

I'm really excited about this project and pleased with how it's turning out. I'd like to explain a little bit more about what's going into the Abel painting and why, but it may be in a new post yet. If not, I suppose I'll just edit this post and put a tag on the end. An explanation of the entire series can be found here, for any who hasn't seen it yet.

This definitely looks like it will be wonderful when completed... paintings of those who lived by faith.

Are you painting in the living room? It looks like your canvasses take up some space!
