Artistic Director: Jasmine (Yas-mine) has been professionally performing and instructing in the art of Middle Eastern Dance for the last 25 years. In 1987 she co-founded the Abu Simbel Middle Eastern Dance School and formed the Abu Simbel Middle Eastern Dance Troupe. In 2002 she founded The Turkish Taffy Belly Dancers.
The dance is her escape from the “real world”. She is a dedicated, learned instructor and choreographer and has a legacy of teachers, students and professional dancers. Spirituality is important to her inner harmony. Dance is her way to honor and enjoy a connection to the spiritual through art and beauty. Currently she teaches for Diva’s On the Loose, City of Winnipeg Adult Leisure and for the Louis Riel School Division Continuing Education. Jasmine also offers private lessons which are a great tool to quickly improve your dance skills. |

Jasmine has designed and sewn some of her own costumes. She choreographs dances for herself her students and the Turkish Taffy Belly Dancers. She continues to study the styles, interpretations and choreographies of major Egyptian, Canadian and International performers and Folkloric groups through her extensive collection of Performance and Instructional VHS & DVD, Instructional Books and attending workshops. She also traveled to Egypt to study the culture, history and dance.
She has a deep interest in preserving this ancient dance form, and in sharing her passion for the art with her audience and students.
Currently she teaches for the City of Winnipeg, Adult Leisure, Louis Riel School Division, Continuing Education and Diva’s on the Loose.
Private Lessons with Jasmine
Private lessons are a great tool to work specifically on accomplishing dance technique and form. Prior dance experience is recommended.
$35.00 hour/minimum 2 hours (one student).
$45.00 hour/minimum 2 hours (two students).
