Looking ahead to 2009, we will likely only schedule four tournaments;
-
Early Bird
-
Mid Summer
-
Club Championships
-
Closing
There will also be other tournaments like the Charleswood Legion
Challenge Tournament which was held on 21 August and quite well
attended. Hopefully there will be enough interest to run it again. For
all our tournaments we will be requiring a minimum of 40 players
signed up to go ahead with the event. So, get your names in
early at the clubhouse to confirm your commitment.
The Men’s Matchplay was a success this year with Bill Rideout
narrowly defeating Tom Baker 1Up. This season long event garnered a lot
of interest amongst the membership and will almost certainly be a part
of the 2009 season. Some modification to the rules will likely occur
such as all put into flights by handicap. If you have any ideas on
improving on this or any other club activity, please bring it forward or
use the Suggestion Box in the Clubhouse.
A few things remain on the calendar such as;
Men’s Closing Tournament on Saturday, 04 October with tee off expected
to be at 1200 hrs. If you have not signed up please get your name in
ASAP. The normal Men’s night will also go on as on 02 October (1630 –
1800 hrs). Fewest putts will be the format.
There has been a proposal to have a Ladies’ League next year with
bi-weekly play on Thursday mornings alternating with the Charleswood
Legion.
I will make sure this website is updated regularly over the winter so
please check back for updates. The Spring General Meeting will
likely be on Tuesday, 07 April, 2009. This will be confirmed at
our next Executive Meeting on 30 October, 2009. Lastly, we will be
looking for new Executive Committee members for 2009. These include a
new Vice President and Secretary (serving military). So please feel free
to contact myself or anyone else on the committee to put forward your
name or nominate someone else.
