Veterinary Chiropractic Manipulation
Chiropractic manipulation has proven effective for neck and
back pain in animals. Treatment consists of careful, gentle manipulation of vertebrae to restore the correct alignment. This
relieves pain and allows proper functioning of the tissues. X-rays along with a referral from your veterinarian are required
prior to chiropractic therapy.

Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a system of medicine based on the principle of
"like cures like". Using carefully selected dilute preparations called Remedies, homeopathy stimulates the body to strengthen
and heal itself. The Remedies are made from natural sources. They are selected according to the whole symptom picture of the
patient including physical and emotional states. Homeopathy is effective for acute problems such as injuries as well as chronic
complaints.
It is important to have a consultation with someone trained in veterinary homeopathy to realize
the full benefit of homeopathic treatment. The disease course is much different in our pets than it is in people. Someone
trained to practice homeopathy who is not a veterinarian or doesn't have training in veterinary homeopathy may potentially
cause harm to your pet.
While veterinary homeopathy isn't available from a local veterinarian,
there are two veterinarians
out of province that offer phone consultations.

Dr. Vockeroth will require your veterinarian
to fax copies of the medical records to their office.

Aromatherapy
Essential oils are the tools used in aromatherapy. They are fragrances distilled from plants.
Aromatherapy uses the scent of essential oils to target certain energy paths within the body, which
instill physical and / or mental well being. Some aromatherapists claim that these energy paths target specific body parts.
The use of essential oils in any other mode should be done under the supervision of an expert. We are
not aware of anyone who is trained to use essential oils in pets in Winnipeg.
Essential oils are concentrated liquids distilled from plants that contain many natural chemicals.
Even in small quantities they are potentially toxic to cats and dogs. An immediate reaction may be seen
6 - 8 hours after the oil is administered. If oils are administered in very dilute amounts over a long period of time symptoms
may slowly develop.
Symptoms of toxicity may include one or more of the following: loss of muscle control, weakness, tremors,
behavioral disorders and depression, paralysis, lethargy, respiratory depression, or liver failure.
If your pet has been in direct contact with an essential oil (ie. Tea Tree, Eucalyptus Lavender, Potpourri)
please see a veterinarian immediately.
